“Strength isn’t carrying the weight alone; it’s knowing when to lean on your team.” Don’t just survive “flourish”

Access to Healthcare

There’s one thing most of us share from our service whether its, emergency services or military service. The injuries and psychological trauma of being within an institutionalised environment, with a “can do” or Crack on mindset, which takes it’s toll and sometimes with dramatic effect to our Health & Well Being.

REMEMBER seek professional Help from your GP Surgery or NHS Hospital – They Will highlight any current advice with a quote or weblink for official advice. If in need contact https://111.nhs.uk/

Suicide and Self Harming Prevention

Self-Harming comes in many forms it’s not just cutting yourself or inflicting physical pain on your body, it can be unintentional self-harm such as engaging in highly dangerous activities with no regard for personal safety or those that care about you.

You don’t just wake up randomly on a thursday morning thinking i’m gonna kill myself, it develops over weeks or months and on rare occasions after a significant horrible event in life, but stop and think, who will be left behind, who will suffer years of torment and just what will it achieve generally absolutely nothing apart from serious distress for many people that have to deal with the aftermath, friends, family, Medic and someone out there who needed help, but now has none – Remember there is Help available YOU only have to reachout https://www.opcouragemidlands.nhs.uk/

Keeping in Contact with other Military Personnel

There are now Breakfast clubs throughout the UK where you can go and meet up with other Veterans and we understand this isn’t for everyone but keep an eye out for the activities they put on as you may well find them helpful, some put on walks, veteran orientated social events as well as Mental Health workshops to help you with PTSD and even coping with Tinnitus – They will also have the ability to signpost to other services as required. The main point here is don’t isolate yourself from those who understand and are willing to help.

Books written by Veterans with lived experience

You can explore the Christian book and resources for veterans at Beyond the Uniform,
This is not simply a military memoir or a police autobiography. It is an honest account of a lifetime of service, leadership, personal failure, reconciliation and faith. It explores the challenges that many veterans, serving personnel and those in public service experience when identity, purpose and resilience are tested beyond the roles they have held. Throughout my career I wore different uniforms, each carrying responsibility and privilege. Yet I came to discover that our deepest identity is not found in rank, position or profession, but in the grace of God.

My hope is that Beyond the Uniform will encourage readers who have served their country, their communities or their families, and who may now be asking what comes next. It is a story of hope, second chances and discovering that no life is beyond redemption. I believe the themes of service, integrity, perseverance and faith will resonate with veterans, serving personnel, churches and community groups alike.

Positive Mindset & Mindfulness

To attain enlightenment, psychological positivity and physical health takes effort and a willingness to actively engage in training both mind and body to rewrite its own history, by removing ones own barriers to success, which can be measured in many ways, from achieving personal goals whether small or gigantic. Your strength comes from within and a need to explore bigger and better things, from simple beginnings like giving up smoking, going for walks to clearing your mind of historical junk that holds you back. Invest in your own happiness and prosperity, take that leap of faith to experience all life has to offer when you open your mind to the possibilities

The Universe has a message for you today, What went wrong will not stay wrong, open your mind, reach out, we are your Military Family and here help. What drained you and brought you down will not define your future, that which caused you distress will provide the strength to rise like the Phoenix in blazing colour and what caused you pain will provide you with a breakthrough turning loss into gain, Welcome back into the Veteran family where doors will open, giving rise to your potential. The shift and turning point is here – Everything is about to change.

We see your confusion and the weight of not knowing what to do next? You cannot be rushed into the decisions, appraise it, seek alternative solutions to  your dilemma, confide in those who truly have your interests at heart, be selective not everyone is who they appear to be. Pay particular attention to what brings you peace and tranquility, use it to strengthen your resolve to build a new you who is dedicated to enjoying the life you have and seek out those who will encourage you, support you through through your darkest hours.

Food & Healthy Drinks

Often it is far cheaper to collect your fruits and vegetables from the local market as you can buy as much or as little as you like , with the added advantage of picking only the items you want  – great for the single person

No waste as you can use up Oranges, Garlic, Ginger and turmeric, just mix the together then squeeze out using a muslin bag to get the juices without the bits and sweeten with honey to taste and you have a fabulous health shot to ward off colds

Alcohol Worsens Core PTSD Symptoms

PTSD symptoms fall into four clusters: re-experiencing, avoidance, hyperarousal, and negative mood/cognition. Alcohol interacts negatively with all four.

Increased Intrusive Memories – Alcohol disrupts sleep architecture (especially REM sleep). REM disruption increases – Nightmares, Flashbacks and Emotional intensity of traumatic recall and in the Short-term sedation often leads to worse symptoms – the next day – Try alcohol free when your socialising if your going to a pub. It looks the same but won’t give the side effects – Drinking alone, drinking to sleep, or drinking to suppress memories are high-risk patterns.

Veterans in the UK who have served for at least one day are entitled to priority NHS care for health conditions related to their military service, subject to clinical need. The NHS offers specialized physical and mental health pathways, and veterans are encouraged to declare their service status when registering with their GP
